Slow Living in Stone

Experiences, if desired

At KATUN, nothing is scheduled.

Nothing is expected.

The days unfold with the light, the stone and the rhythm of the landscape.

Should you wish to deepen your stay, we curate quiet experiences

personal, local and never imposed. Everything is optional.

Everything happens at your pace.

Stone and Heritage

Hilltop towns, ancient stone, quiet streets and coastal history.

Venetian façades, Roman traces and places shaped by time.

A journey through Istria’s cultural landscape — unhurried, authentic, enduring.

Labin

Distance: approx. 15 min A hilltop town of artists and quiet alleys. Venetian facades, small galleries and cafes overlooking the Adriatic. Labin carries a calm, creative energy.

Rabac

Distance: approx. 20 min began as a small fishing harbor. Today, its charm lies in the curve of the bay. Boats resting in still water, light reflecting off stones. Walk the waterfront in the early morning.

Hum

Distance: approx. 40 min Often called the smallest town in the world. A fortified stone settlement with only a handful of inhabitants. Timeless and poetic.

Rovinj

Distance: approx. 50 min Perhaps the most atmospheric coastal town in Istria. Winding stone streets lead up to St. Euphemia`s Church. Early morning or golden hour reveals Rovinj at its most authentic.

Opatija

Distance: approx. 40 min An elegant seaside town shaped by Austro-Hungarian architecture. Historic villas, palm-lined promenades and the rhythm of the Lungomare. A refined contrast to the stillness of KATUN.

Pula

Distance: approx. 45 min Roman heritage meets Mediterranean life. The Arena is one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world. A cultural contrast to the rural stillness of KATUN.

Sea and Horizen

Turquoise water, pine-fringed coves and wide mountain views.

Coastline, silence and stone shaped by wind, light and time.

Moments of stillness between sea level and summit.

Beaches in and around Rabac

Distance: approx. 25 min Crystal-clear turquoise water framed by pine forests. Ideal for swimming, kayaking or simply watching the Adriatic shift in color.

Ucka Nature Park

Distance: approx. 40-50 min Mountain air and panoramic views over Istria and the Kvarner Bay. Gentle hikes or a sunrise drive to Vojak peak for expansive silence.

Vela Draga - Ucka Nature Park

Distance: approx. 45 min Vela Draga feels ancient and untouched. Limestone formations carved by wind and time. A walk through stone shaped by centuries.

A circular hike from Rabac to Labin

Follow the shaded Sentona trail upward through forest and limestone paths until Labin rises above the bay. Sea below. Stone above. Silence in between.

Taste the Land

Central Istria reveals itself through earth, craft and quiet abundance.

Vineyards, olive groves, hilltop towns and small producers shape the rhythm of the land.

Olive Oil

Family-run olive oil producers rooted in quality and tradition.

Wineries

Small boutique wineries shaped by land, light and patience.

Truffles

One of Istria's most treasured flavours, found close to the forest floor.
